I think George is telling us what we already know. While I enjoyed this routine it doesn't say how, when, or even if this could be turned around because we all probably know the answer to that too. Bloodshed and violence is probably the only way the reigns of this country are going to be taken out of the hands of the Big Machine and placed into the hands of Americans themselves and really, what will that resolve? Human nature dictates that another regime will take the place of the old in much the same style. Human beings must change on a global scale and agree to work together if the problems of today are going to be resolved, nothing less will do.

Over the last 35 years, I've been a Democratic Party activist in various capacities…
I’ve worked with hundreds of my fellow Americans…knocking on doors by the tens of thousands until my twisted ankles felt broken, making thousands of phone calls until the script came pouring out every time I opened my mouth, pleading with reluctant voters on Election Days to vote…developing candidate polls, targeting precincts, cleaning campaign office restrooms, writing checks and sweating blood for candidates that turned out more interested in their personal careers and enrichments, then enriching the lives of the citizens that elected them to office.
Every once and awhile, I listen to this George Carlin standup routine… I take it as a challenge…a wake-up call.

It is hard not to see what is currently going on in this country st the present time. The election of one of "The Owners" and the help he received from the powerful interests groups here and around the world and not believe what George said is true. I try to be an optimist, but I am starting to wonder if that ship has sailed. Look at the people Trump is putting at key positions. The Secretary of State nominee has a major conflict of interest with Exxon Mobil and the Russians. He is only one, I could go on! Bottom line is that George Carlin was right on in his assessment of the USA!

There is another element of the story that hasn’t been mentioned much. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who is building a serious challenge to Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination, appears to have invoked the superpredator myth as well. And he did so in a speech addressing the crime bill before it passed.

Sanders, who was in the House of Representatives at the time, was skeptical about the legislation when it was being debated. Though he would vote for its passage, he did have strong progressive-minded criticisms, lamenting the country’s mass incarceration problem and income inequality. “We can create meaningful jobs, rebuilding our society, or we can build more jails,” he said.

Sanders also added this caveat:

"It is my firm belief that clearly, there are people in our society who are horribly violent, who are deeply sick and sociopathic, and clearly these people must be put behind bars in order to protect society from them."

Sanders doesn’t explicitly invoke the so-called superpredator idea in this statement. But it seems likely this was his reference.
At the time he also pushed for harsher sentences for crack vs powdered cocaine.
Hmmmmmmmmm....

For the @PlagiarismBad project, we have hand-vetted a list of thousands of tweet thieves. We used to use a web service I wrote in order to let people block these accounts en masse, but the list got too big. We could not block all those thieves for so many accounts and stay within the Twitter API usage limits. So we switched to making it a downloadable block list. I think this is an example of where this feature is very useful. For hand-crafted lists of known bad actors, similar to spam filtering blacklists.
