I'm encouraged to see the Republicans ignore the subject matter and rally around the simplistic idea of "Greed is good" and class warfare. I sincerely hope to see Romney succeed in demoralizing the Tea Party into hesitant voters. It just might wake up the 99 percent and OWS activists to the reality that this election is more than just a "lesser of two evils". There is a very clear contrast between the goals and vision of President Obama versus a Romney Administration loaded up with predatory Capitalists and PNAC neoconservatives (a lethal combination).

Financial foreign aid, if provided with no strings attached, has a negative rate of return on the investment, as some of the money will be pocketed by foreign public officials who will have a greater interest in remaining in their position, including by force and fuel anti-foreign sentiments in the population.

Excellent! I've been uncomfortable with idea of using the hashtag for quite some time. Yes, it can be helpful when trying to build your social network, but as you pointed out it can also be hurtful. I much prefer the idea of adding why it is one follows another person on twitter vs. just shout outs without explanations. Easier too :-) I just feel bad when I get so many shout outs or #followfriday's from others, so in turn I return them. How does one squelch that without hurting feelings? I'm learning to just thank the person that sent it and sometimes I admit, I do hit reply because there are those who are just friends I don't see often on twitter. I have gained more followers by just being 'me.' Thanks for posting this.

Unfortunately, none of this surprises me. I only followed her on Twitter for a short period of time. I found her posts to be intellectually shallow but sometimes humorous. Then one day I witnessed an exchange between her and someone who disagreed with her. I'm sorry that I can't provide any proof, nor do I recall who the other party was or what the disagreement was about. I just remember being appalled at her behavior -- she took everything personally, then started smearing the other person with personal attacks, and then tried to paint the other person's behavior as the problem. I unfollowed her immediately. I should also add that I've followed Shoq for much longer and have never witnessed him bully anyone. As a child, I was horribly bullied by both my father and my older brother, so I am super-sensitive to bullying behavior. I know it when I see it, and I just haven't seen it come from Shoq. I've seen him give out harsh criticisms, but criticizing someone’s work is not bullying. Some people clearly don’t know the difference.

Thanks Shoq... we have been looking for organizing link too. as the current anarchic 'all-inclusive' processes of NYC GA and SC flail onward to nothing but mundane daily tasks.
Hopefully Spring will add some of this sensibiliy into their manuevering.

Delighted to have missed this. If this is the Progressive movement, I'm out. I'm a person of rather Buddhist leanings, and all this "high school drama" represents a form of attachment I can't fathom. I'll tell you one thing. This brilliant article verified some long-standing suspicions I have had and unease at the constant drumbeat against someone I consider a friend. It is often easy to put all the Twitter attacks down to misread 140 character messages, but at some point, there are no misreadings or misunderstanding; only lies, vitriolic accusations, and jealousy. I've waited for this post for over a year and applaud Shoq's restraint. It is a testament to his character to disown this maliciousness for so long. I would not have suffered the fools for one day.

Because I follow AngryBlackLady, thru my reading at BalloonJuice, I have seen a lot of this in both Shoq's and her feeds. While intially it seemed juvenile, in it's totality (above), it would seem to rise to the level of harrassment or libel. I can't imagine having to live this every day. I enjoy reading your feed and your blog and I am really really sorry that you are having to deal with this. I just wanted to say that and that I have a lot of respect for you that continue to share/blog/tweet thru all of it. Keep your head up and be proud of the work you do.

I am truly glad that she blocked me early on. It's been a bit over a year, actually. I pointed out the problem with a poutrage piece she posted. I think it had to do with @questlove posting a picture of something he had a "smh" response to that was being served in the NBC cafeteria, and then the whole internet exploded, mad at him. AFTER he posted an apology, she published her piece. So, I linked to it, and told her that if she's going to pretend to be a journalist, she needs to do research before publishing stuff. She had a mini-tantrum, then blocked me. I'm pretty glad. Mostly glad I didn't get sucked up into her mess. I'm also glad no one in my stream is a hater or a baiter.

Nope, he never ran on that. He ran of bridging the gap between parties, bringing a new non-partisan tone to Washington, governing from the center on the strength of the argument, not ideology. Do you recall any of that during the 2008 campaign?

I think anonymity on the internet is difficult to achieve unless you are very careful all the time and plant false information as well. The last person I chased down because she disappeared and I was concerned, I ended up with her photo and the address of the building she lived in - tho not the actual address. I got all this for free. For $35, I could likely have gotten her phone number. In any case - don't try to be anonymous if you are a amateur. Don't tell me you don't want me to know what city you live in and then tweet about tornadoes in real time. Exactly how many cities do you suppose are experiencing tornadoes at any given moment? Hiding and posting personal information is not a good idea.

We use Tweetdeck for several of our clients including

ATM Executive Research and

ATM Talent Management. We have the same issue, although it does not happen to every post it does occur randomly throughout the day. We have found that restarting the Tweetdeck software usually fixes this issue.
